BONNIE WEE SCOTLAND

Last week I went to Dundee (apologises since it meant I didn't update site until today). And all I have to say is I Love Scotland! It's just infinitely cooler that here! (Temperature wise too) They have £1 notes and weird paper money which everyone here goes "what the hell is that?" and when I reply "Scottish money" they all stick up their noses and don't accept it.

Anyway I went to St Andrews and bought myself 2 haggis's which I know refer to as the Haggi. Haggi is so good! I had these wild delusions that it was some squelchy stomach filled with large lumps of meat that all look like bits of brain and intestine. But no; it's a rock hard stomach (looks a little bit celeric-ish) and once boiled and opened it looks like mince. Well...it is mince. Lamb mince with oats mixed in with a few herbs. SO NICE!

I also bought myself some "tablet" which Bagpipes baby was telling me about before - it's a variation on fudge that I've not found down here. It's crumbly and not squidgy like fudge. But damn good! I also learnt that Dundee is where they produce and print the Beano and Dandy - there's a huge statue of Desperate Dan in the town square.

I also learnt a few new Scottish words: Driech or Drich means miserable weather (used a lot I guess), as in "what a drich day" and cundy which is another word for drain. Dog's in Fife are pronounced dug, and food is fud.

I love Scotland! Bring on Edinburgh university!

Photos of my trip can be seen on my website soon...
