STAR WARS PREMIERE

The Star Wars premiere. I had to go. It was in my destiny. So I did. I thought I would go at 6am..but then me and Katherine didn't think we were *that* sad, so we got there for 10am instead. We got our photos taken with very friendly stormtroopers, and then plonked ourselves down next to some very nice people and waited. And waited. 5 hours went by and still they had not put up most of the barriers, carpet or anything. I was starting to think if they were having a premiere. Especially when there where record numbers of people going, "so..whats happening here then?" I don't know what was more obvious, the hundreds of jedi knights, the royal philharmonic orchestra playing the theme tune a little too many times, the large groups of fans with posters and lightsabers or the lifesize replica of a starship. Oh well.

Finally after 4 hours of rain, at 6pm things started happening - i.e. they put up the barriers and starting rolling out the carpet. which they left for another hour. *sigh* you would think that after doing so many premieres that the people organizing would know how to get things done. As soon as the barriers were up this horrible man started pushing me aside really violently. luckily someone who i had gotten friendly with called a security guard who told him if he was at the front again - he would get escorted away. It rained so hard. It was so cold and miserable and after standing up so long, my legs, back, feet and neck were all in agony.

They did actually finish setting up amazingly, and at 7.30pm the first star arrived - Sir Christopher Lee. Suddenly everything started happening - the crowds after 10 hours of quietness was a frenzied throng of mad fans. I got Hayden Christensen's autograph and amazing photos of him and Ewan McGregor (one of them hugging... hehe). And then it was all over. All that waiting for about 45mins. Would i go through that all again? Hell yes!
